FACTS ABOUT ZAMBIA
By Derek Mwale
Zambia; A land full of different tribes and races, but mostly with dark and chocolate beautiful people. It’s blessed with different and variance animal and plant species. It’s filled with many forests and natural wonders. There is a lot in Zambia to blow your mind but I will highlight a few things that let it stand out from its neighbouring countries and the world at large.
Zambia is a landlocked country situated in Central Africa and part of Southern Africa, and it is surrounded by eight countries. The country has only the Zambezi River connecting it to oceans. Currently in Zambia there are no ports to receive shipments directly in the country. And the economy heavily relies on imports to keep the lights on. Personally, I see this as an opportunity for revolutionary modes of transport to be built. I was very optimistic about Richard Branson’s hyperloop; If the problem for extremely fast transportation is solved it may lay the ground for landlocked countries to innovate. Imagine receiving imports direct from China within a short period time. That can massively stimulate the economy.
Peace, the only word on my mind while I meditate. And my mind the only thing I can dictate as I watch my soul levitate. I need peace not only internally but also externally. Luckily, I was born in very peaceful country which is Zambia. This country is peaceful to the point of no major conflict since independence. All in all, it is very amazing how different tribes and races live together without any conflicts. Regardless of our political views, race, tribe and gender we should carry on this wonderful spirit of peace and togetherness.
In Zambia price, supply and demand mostly determine how the economy works. It is a free-market economy making it easier for someone to do business. Zambia is one of the easiest places to do business in ranking in the top 100. You can easily register a business and start operating without any delays. Taxes in this country are pretty much fair and cost less for a business in income hence increasing its Net Income. With the power to start any business or company without any government interference a person has the ability to earn as well as contribute to the Gross Domestic Product. And the country is very much open to foreign investments with good policies favouring both local and foreign enterprises.
Zambia is blessed with natural resources – most of them are vital and in demand. One of the most mined, produced and exported is copper. Zambia ranks as the third largest copper producer in the world and the largest in Africa. This makes it a vital country in world: imagine if it did a lot of processing. This increase in value is rewarded with extra percentage in profit margins. The processing industry has the potential to grow significantly. Good investments and innovation could give this industry rapidly. Hence, growing the Gross Domestic product and other economic metrics: giving a good economic profile for investors who analyze with fundamentals to invest in the country. With all this happening we should not turn a blind eye to how the environment is impacted. Making it a priority to include climate change in decisions that matter.
Zambia is home to a different animal species and Hippos are one of them. These species kill more people than lions do but their herbivores. Zambia has one of largest of hippos in the world. They are mostly found in the Luangwa River. If you are a wildlife enthusiasts and photographers this the place for you.
Another wildlife record for Zambia: It is the home of last remaining population of the African Wild Dog. It is a stronghold for the endangered African wild dog, also known as the painted wolf. Conservation efforts are crucial for these species’ survival.
Bided as Africa’s next tech hub it is also a hub for birdwatching. It is a paradise for birdwatchers, having about 750 species of birds. There are diverse habitants, from the wetlands to savannas making Zambia the ideal location for observing both resident and migratory birds.
